Ebonyi State Government Come For Two Companies That Sold Fairly Used Turbine plants to the former administration at $12 million without explanation on the maintenance cost.

Ebonyi State Government has threatened to take necessary actions against two companies, the Cross River International and Callifco from United States over two fairly used turbine plants allegedly sold to the former administration at $12 million without explanation on the maintenance cost.

Governor Dave Umahi while addressing contractors handling various projects in the state at the weekend lamented that the state government has decided to resell the plants to the supplier because of the high cost of to maintenance, but Callisfco Company was only offering $7.5 million, 37.5 per cent discount.

4 shot as students protest in Onitsha

Onitsha
Four students were allegedly shot with one in critical condition when students of the Federal Government-owned Metallurgical Training Institute (MTI), Onitsha took to the streets yesterday.

The students were said to have engaged in violent protest over poor hostel accommodation and rejection of the school’s diploma certificate by other federal institutions, among other agitations.

In a surprise development, Governor Shettima has forwarded Hadjiya Kwambura's name to the Borno State House of Assembly. She will now be screened by the house and if approved by its members, will assume office as the new Borno State education commissioner.

Ritualist allegedly kills 21-year-old female student in Ogun



Men of Ogun State police command, Tuesday, uncovered a ritualist’s shrine at Eposo-Akaka, Isara, in Remo North Local Government of Ogun State with dismembered human parts suspected to be those of a female student of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Morenikeji Owolabi.

The shrine which was made with corrugated iron sheets in a cubicle form, contained boiled and smoked human parts.
Five suspected criminals allegedly involved in the act.

Nigerian Internet Scammer, Yahoo Boy Arrested In Lagos For Duping American Woman He Met On Facebook Of N20 Million.Yesterday, EFCC arraigned Ebiechina Chikeluba ( aka Lisa T. Jackson) before Justice O. A Ipaye of the High Court of Lagos State, Ikeja on a 17-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence, personation, forgery and using false document. Chikeluba who met his victim on Facebook using the false identity of, Lisa T. Jackson, a United States citizen, has been making monetary demands of his victims, using varies guises.

In one such instance in March 2013, he obtained a total sum of £54,324.59 (Fifty Four Thousand, Three Hundred and Twenty Four Pounds, Fifty Nine Pence) from one K. Oaks through Western Union on the pretext that he was an American woman dealing in Gold in Nigeria and needed money to increase her capital.

Woman stabs two-year-old son to death

The police in Ogun State have arrested a 26-year-old woman, Funmilayo Tijani, who allegedly stabbed her two-year-old son, Emmanuel, to death in the Sango Ota area of the state.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Funmilayo, a fashion designer, and her husband, identified simply as John, separated two years ago as a result of a quarrel.

It was gathered that Funmilayo had returned to stay in her father’s apartment with her only child after the separation.

Our correspondent learnt that on May 27, at about 4pm, Funmilayo’s neighbours on Ogunso Street, Orelope Estate, in the Egan, Sango area, noticed that she held a bloodstained knife and saw Emmanuel in a pool of blood.

EFCC arrests Ohakim for corruption

A former Imo State governor, Ihedi Ohakim, was on Thursday arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Ohakim, who was scheduled to visit the EFCC office in Abuja on Wednesday, had shunned the invitation, prompting the commission to pick him up to clarify and answer questions on an ongoing investigation into allegations of corruption and embezzlement by his government.

The EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that Ohakim is in their custody.

Multiple bomb blast in Chad, police headquarters targeted, many killed


Multiple bomb explosion rocked the Chadian capital, N’Djamena this morning. Reports say suicide bombers who are believed to be members of Boko Haram attacked the Police Headquarters. One of the suicide bombers attacked the police academy where a graduation ceremony was going on. Unconfirmed reports say at least 30 cadets were killed in the attack.

Three students arrested For Internet ‎Fraud in Ondo state

Three students, Fisayo Adetoro a 300 level student of Joseph Ayodele Babalola University, (JABU) in Ikeji Arakeji, Osun state, Emmanuel Omole and Wale Ayeni‎ who are both students of the Federal University of Technology Akure, (FUTA) all pictured above, have been arrested by the Ondo state police command for engaging in internet fraud. Announcing their arrest, the Ondo state police spokesperson, Oluwole Ogodo in a statement released yesterday June 10th, said the 3 undergraduate students were arrested at "Ilesha Garage and Delta Hotel" in Akure following intelligence report.

FG, marketers agree to end fuel scarcity next week


The Federal Government and petrol marketers on Friday agreed to put an end to Nigeria’s fuel scarcity problems before the close of business next week Saturday.

The Punch had reported exclusively that the government would meet with the marketers on Friday in a bid to address the prolonged fuel scarcity problems.

The meeting, which was well attended by stakeholders in the sector, had top officials from the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria, Pipelines and Product Marketing Company, and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

President Buhari To Introduce Modified NYSC Scheme

Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari may have concluded plans to unveil another programme synonymous to the existing National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

Suicide Bombers And Other Terrorists Die As Troops Repel Attack On Shetimari

Two suicide bombers leading a band of terrorists were among over a score of those of them who died as troops succeeded in repelling the terrorist attack on Shetimari in Borno State yesterday (Thursday) evening. Over 12 rifles and 1 machine gun were captured from the terrorists group as the attack was repelled. Also recovered from the group were rocket propelled grenades and some bombs.

Troops conducting mopping up operation are still combing the area while others are in pursuit of those who are on the run.

Bomb Blast Rocks Yola Market, Many Feared Dead

A bomb blast suspected to be from a suicide bomber has occurred in Yola, the capital city of Adamawa state, north east Nigeria.
A resident of the town, Salihu Aliyu, told PREMIUM TIMES that the blast happened in front of the Jimeta main market at about 7:45pm.
“We just finished observing the Maghrib prayer when we heard a loud blast in the direction of the market,” he said.

Explosion Kills Seven In Baga, Maiduguri

Suspected terrorists have killed Seven people in Maiduguri, Borno state while Eight other sustained injuries.


Eyewitness account says the bomb exploded late Wednesday night at a military check-point at a mechanic workshop, opposite sector one Military Base and NNPC mega station, on Baga road in Maiduguri.
According to report, some suspicious looking young men were in a vehicle while approaching a check-point, they were stopped by soldiers who tried to search them in the process a bomb was detonated leading to the death of some people and destruction of vehicles around the check-point.
This will be the fifth attack by Boko Haram and second this week since the leadership of Muhammadu Buhari assumed office on May 29 2015.

Gunmen kill French tourist, shoot wife in Ebonyi

Gunmen Tuesday night attacked a French couple, who were visiting Ebonyi State, killing the husband and injuring the wife.

The State Governor, Dave Umahi disclosed this in a meeting with staff and students of Ebonyi State University (EBSU), Abakaliki.

He explained that the tourists got to Abaomege in Onicha Local Government Area of the state in the night from where they were planning to proceed to Calabar in Cross River State when they went into the bush and set their tent to rest.

Another Explosion In Maiduguri: Casualties Yet Undetermined

Another improvised explosive device on Wednesday evening exploded in the city of Maiduguri, killing scores of people and leaving many injured, local sources said.

The blast occurred at about 05:20pm at an area of timber sheds along Baga Road in the metropolis a few kilometres from Maimalari Barracks of the 7th Division of the Nigeria army.

A resident, Babagana Kana, told SaharaReporters by phone, ''We heard loud explosions in the timber sheds area about 100 metres away from sector 1 command, shortly soldiers started shooting so everyone fled.  I couldn't wait to ascertain the number of casualties.”

Blatter resigns as Fifa president

Sepp Blatter has announced he will step down as president of Fifa, calling an extraordinary congress "as rapidly as possible" at which a successor will be selected.

The Swiss announced his decision at a hastily-arranged press conference on Tuesday after his secretary-general Jerome Valcke had earlier been implicated in the US Department of Justice's investigations into a $10 million payment to indicted former Fifa vice-president Jack Warner.

"I have thoroughly thought about my presidency and the 40 years Fifa has played in my life. I love Fifa more than anything else and I only want to do the best. I decided to stand again for election for the good of football," he told the gathered media.

Boko Haram released a 10-mins video on Youtube recently. Leader of the sect, Abubakar Shekau is believed to be absent from the video. The spokesperson in the video claimed they were still in authority over Dikwa, Gamboru, Damasak and other areas which the Nigerian military claimed they had liberated in recent times.

Those who asking the new president and his deputy to publicly declare their asset will have to wait a bit longer as the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, which keeps custody of the assets declared by the two leaders, says it lacks the power to make them public for now.

Chairman of the CCB, Mr. Sam Sada, who spoke exclusively to Vanguard through his Special Assistant, Mr. Gwimi Sebastian Peter, said only the National Assembly is vested with the powers to decide the terms and conditions under which such documents could be made public.

Kidnappers den in Ibadan uncovered, fake currency notes, cars found


The police in Oyo state yesterday June 1st uncovered a shrine where fake currencies(pounds, euros, dollars) are produced in Isase, Ojoku, in Ona Ara Local Government Area of the state. The state commissioner of Police, Mohammed Katsina while taking pressmen on an inspection of the area, said the the den was discovered through intelligence gathering. Fake currencies, including Euros, Pounds, Dollars as well as fetish things(charms, statues, cowries) were discovered in the place. Father arrested for sleeping with his daughters & nieces in Oyo

Tajudeen Awoniyi, a herbalist residing in Oyo state has been arrested by men of the Oyo state police command for repeatedly having sex with two of his daughters and two of his nieces all aged 14, 15, 15 and 17 at his residence in Akinyele Local Government area in Oyo state.

While being paraded today at the state police headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, Tajudeen denied the allegations but his denial was countered by the statements made against him by the young ladies.

While recounting how he molested her, one of his nieces said ;

Lion kills American woman in South African Wildlife park


An American killed in a lion attack at Lion Park in South Africa was dragged to her death in mere minutes. The unidentified 22-year-old woman was dragged to her death and another person seriously hurt after the pair left their window down during the drive-thru African safari.

The woman was dragged out of the SUV by the lioness and her companion was injured as he tried to save her from the lion's jaws at Gauteng Lion Park near Johannesburg.

Lagos wife pours hot water on her husband for constantly beating her



An angry wife in Lagos identified as Esther Ehianuguan is reported to have poured hot water on her police officer husband identified as Charles Ehianuguan for allegedly constantly beating her.

According to reports, Charles, a police officer attached to Area F Police Command, Logistics and Supply Unit, Ikeja, Lagos was alleged to be physically abusive towards his wife. He allegedly beat her up on Sunday May 31st in public - at the Car Wash area in Egbeda-Idimu Lagos state.
