Bida Market Where Boko Haram Trades

Bida is one of the villages under Monguno local government, and it hosts a market once-popular for livestock and agricultural produce, before Boko Haram insurgents sacked residents, making the market their very own.

About 30 kilometres from Monguno town, the hometown of National Security Adviser, Major-General Babagana Monguno (rtd), the insurgents have fixed every Sunday as their market day, where business starts from 11:00am to wind up by 1:00pm, with only able-bodied men seen either buying or selling. Most of the buyers, Daily Trust learnt, are bulk buyers, except a few villagers, on whose faces discomfort can be seen.

EFCC Uncovers Another N3bn Stolen Arms Deal

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) is extending its investigation of arms deals during the Jonathan administration to a $3 billion contract said to have been awarded by the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) under the late General Andrew Owoye.

Several arms dealers , a military chief and some other officials who served under Azazi have already been invited by the EFCC for interaction on the matter, The Nation gathered yesterday.

The arms dealers are being quizzed over the alleged inflation of N3billion contract for the supply of 20 units of K-38 patrol boats to the Nigerian Army by the disbanded Presidential Implementation Committee on Marine Safety (PICOMMS).

Military Arrests Boko Haram Chief-Cameraman Alongside Other 2 Suspects

Nigerian troops have recorded another achievement in their battle against Boko Haram insurgents. Gallant troops of 28 Task Force Brigade today arrested another Boko Haram terrorist suspect, Abdullahi Abubakar Sadiq who is said to be the insurgents' Chief Cameraman and suspect number 58 on the list of 100 suspected Boko Haram terrorists wanted list.

Sadiq was arrested at Uba town, Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.Also,the gallant soldiers arrested two other suspected terrorists at Rumirgo and Kilakasa.

Court Sends Adamawa Ex-commissioner To 10 Years In Prison For Embezzlement


Justice Bilkisu Bello Aliyu of the Federal High Court, Yola, Adamawa state on Friday handed 10 years imprisonment to sentenced former Commissioner of Local Government Affairs John Elias for defrauding Adamawa State government of the sum of N51.5 million while in office.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Elias along side two others who were discharged as well as a company owned by Elias on four count charges of fraud.
Justice Aliyu said the judgement will serve as a deterrent to public office holders who may want to divert public funds. For personal benefit.

Two Bomb Blasts In Borno State

One bomb blast is reported to have taken place in Kimba area of the Biu Local Government Area (LGA) and the other in Sabon-Ngeri, both located in Borno State.
