I won’t allow 2017 budget to be padded –Buhari

resident Muhammadu Buhari on Friday promised to ensure that the 2017 Budget is not padded like the 2016 budget.

He said he would never allow “rogue projects and figures” to be injected into the financial document again under his watch.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, in a statement quoted Buhari as making the promise while receiving members of the Governance Support Group led by Mr. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Nigeria’s population now 182 million-with more than half its people under 30 years of age - NPC

The Director-General of National Population Commission, (NPC) Ghaji Bello, has said that Nigeria’s population is currently 182 million as against 140 million recorded in the last census a decade ago.

Bello, who disclosed this recently in Abuja, said the latest estimate was based on the population of 140 million recorded in the last census a decade ago, using an annual growth rate of 3.5 percent weighed against other variables such as rising life expectancy and a declining infant mortality rate.

Policeman shoots colleague to death over N20,000


A policeman attached to the Bayelsa Police Command has shot dead his colleague over N20,000 reward.

The incident occurred early Tuesday morning following an argument between the officers on the sharing formula.

The duo went on an operation where they were rewarded with N20,000.

The deceased was of the opinion that they should give their Divisional Police Officer (DPO) part of the money, while the other objected.

Rivers Election Rerun: Police burst fake result sheets printing syndicate in Port Harcourt

Police on Saturday, November 5th, uncovered alleged plot by the agents of the Rivers APC to rig the forthcoming Rivers South-East Senatorial District as they bursted a fake result sheets printing syndicate in Port Harcourt.



The Printing Press, Help-Mate Consult located at 12 Isiokpo Street D-Line Port Harcourt was printing fake result sheets for seven local government areas of the Rivers South-East when the police stormed the facility upon a tip off by a concerned citizen.

5 soldiers killed as Boko Haram terrorists attack military location in Northern Borno


Yesterday at about 10.00pm suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked a 119 Battalion Nigerian Army location at Mallam Fatori, northern Borno State. The troops fought gallantly and repelled the attack, killing 14 Boko Haram terrorists.


Unfortunately, an officer and 4 soldiers were killed while 4 other soldiers sustained various degrees of injuries during the encounter. One of those killed in action, was Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Abu Ali, the Commanding Officer of 272 Task Force Tank Battalion.

Deeper Life Completes Its Headquarters Church Which Is The World's 4th Largest Auditorium

Deeper Life Bible Church has finally completed its headquarters church valued at over N5 billion ($11 million) in Gbagada. The 30,000 capacity church project had gone on for about 13 years managed by Cappa and D’alberto.

The project which was initially scheduled to last 8 years had been billed for completion in 2012 but the church suffered some setbacks. It is now the 4th largest completed church auditorium in the world.

FG employs 200,000 graduates, place them on N30k monthly salary

 
The Federal government has employed 200,000 graduates into the civil service. Special Assistant to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on media and publicity, Laolu Akande, disclosed this today while speaking at the second presidential economic communication workshop in Abuja.

FCTA raids beggars’ hideout in Abuja , confiscates dangerous weapons

 
The Director, Abuja Environmental Protection Board, AEPB, said his agency and the Task Team on Environment have raided a hideout of suspected beggars and scavengers in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.

Mr. Olanipekun said this at a news conference on Tuesday in Abuja, adding that weapons such as knives, daggers and cutlasses were seized from the hideouts.

She said that the combined team of the AEPB and the Task Team on Environment were on routine operation when they carried out the raid.

Boko Haram kills 5 soldiers, 4 others in ambush


Less than 24 hours after the United States urged President Muhammadu Buhari not to relent in piling pressure on Boko Haram, the insurgents on Sunday killed five soldiers, three vigilantes and a Civilian JTF man in an ambush.

The attack occurred after an operation in the southern part of Borno State.

The troops were on their way to clear Boko Haram from the remote Talala and Ajigin villages of Damboa Local Government in southern Borno, are unknown to them, the insurgents had laid ambush at Ugundiri villages.

After uncovering the stone slab venerated as Jesus Christ's burial place, archaeologists have now examined the interior of the tomb in Jerusalem’s Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

An initial inspection by a team from the National Technical University of Athens revealed a layer of fill material beneath the marble cladding. Additional work revealed another marble slab with a cross carved into its surface, according to National Geographic. Just hours before the tomb was re-sealed Friday, the original limestone burial bed was found to be intact.
