EFCC Arrests APC Chieftain For Contract Scam

Mr. Miebi Bribena, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State, has been reportedly arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over alleged contract scam at the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

Bribena, said to be a major beneficiary of the PAP Amnesty, was arrested early on Wednesday by operatives of the anti-graft agency.

Armed Robbers Attack Policemen, Snatch Three AK47 Rifles

Ebonyi State Police Command Tuesday paraded nine suspects in connection with various crimes ranging from armed robbery, cultism, and unlawful possession of firearms to vandalism.

Among those paraded include members of a robbery gang that operates on highways. They are; Ndubuisi Iseh, 23; Uchenna Nweke, 24, and Sunday Elom, the driver.

500 Nigerians Deported From The UK Arrive Lagos

About 500 Nigerian deportees will arrive in Nigeria from the United Kingdom this morning aboard a chartered flight.

The chartered flight, according to Leadership, was expected to take off from London Stansted airport via a private charter company, Titan Airways.

It was confirmed that the flight was scheduled to depart from the United Kingdom on Tuesday, November 24, at about 10.30pm Nigerian time to land in Lagos on Wednesday, November 25 at about 6.00am.

Man Stabs Neighbour Over Witchcraft Allegation

A 37-year-old man, Abuchi Simon, has been arrested and charged before Isolo Magistrates’ court for allegedly stabbing his neighbour, Ehis Ibhaze, over allegation of witchcraft in Lagos State, western Nigeria.

Ibhaze was allegedly stabbed several times by Simon who allegedly accused him of waging spiritual war against his family through witchcraft which he claimed hindered his progress in life.

The incident happened at 14, Ifelodun street, Ilasamaja, Lagos where they reside.

Senate Asks JAMB To Extend Validity Of Results To 3 Years

THE Senate, yesterday, directed the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, to begin to extend the validity of its results to a period of three years.

This was even as it ordered the board to immediately stop its policy of re-assigning candidates to schools they never applied to, saying such policy was contrary to the act establishing the board.

To this end, results obtained from the board by candidates seeking admission into universities are expected to last for three years.

I use explosives to catch fish – Suspected robber

A suspected bank robber, Aitlabor Gelebele, who was arrested with explosives by the Ogun State Police Command, has said he is not a bank robber but a fisherman.

He told journalists while being paraded that he used the explosives to kill large number of fish in the river and then sold them.

According to the police authorities, Gelebele and three others – Moses Demene, Friday Saborom and Mohammadu Kaidiri – were arrested while planning to rob a bank in the Ijebu Ode area of the state.

Boko Haram Insurgency Has Claimed 90,000 Officers So Far – IG Of Police


The Inspector General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase has disclosed that an estimated 90,000 police officers lost their lives since Boko Haram insurgency started four years ago.

Arase made this known to journalists shortly after addressing men and officers at the police command headquarters in Sokoto, the Sokoto State capital.

Revealing that the police had a record of about 90,000 widows who lost their husbands since the insurgency began in the North-east, he stressed that the Nigeria Police Force had initiated a scheme to cater for the family of officers who lost their lives while on duty in the North-east.

A 36-year-old man has undergone the world’s first successful head transplant. The ground-breaking operation took a team of surgeons 19 hours to complete and has allowed the patient to be cancer-free.

Paul Horner, who was diagnosed with bone cancer five years ago, was on the verge of death when he was approved for the controversial and possibly deadly operation.

Doctor Tom Downey, who was part of the South African team who carried out the operation, told CNN he is thrilled about the results. “It’s a massive breakthrough. We’ve proved that it can be done – we can give someone a brand new body that is just as good, or better, than their previous one.

Mob Beats Lagos Teacher, Rescues 14-year-old From Rape


Residents of Ogunfunmi Street, Akobi Crescent in the Surulere area of Lagos on Tuesday, dragged a school teacher, Benedict Ekpenyong, to a police station for allegedly locking up a female pupil in his room and attempting To Molest her.

Source learnt that the 14-year-old pupil, identified only as Blessing, had been lured by Ekpenyong to his apartment at about 12pm, after which he bolted the door to the suspicion of his neighbours.

Teenager Arrested For Hiding Boyfriend’s Gun


    The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a 15-year-old girl from Mbiaya, in the Uruan Local Government Area of the state for concealing a locally-made pistol that belonged to her boyfriend, Mr. Ofonime Eton, 23.

    The teenager, who is a student of Itam Secondary School, in Itu, was said to have concealed the firearm in her handbag when the police intercepted a tricycle she and her boyfriend boarded.

    The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Murtala Mani, said during a press conference in Uyo on Wednesday that when the teenager discovered that the police team on duty was about stopping the tricycle for a search, he quickly passed the gun to the teenager, who concealed it in her bag.

Oil spill kills 15 in Rivers State

About  15 persons have been  confirmed dead in Emago/Kugbo community in Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State, following the recent oil spill that occurred in the area, at one of the facilities of Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC). This was disclosed yesterday, by Omini Walson-Asaco, spokesman of the community before the members of Rivers State House of Assembly Committee on Environment, held at the Assembly Complex in Port Harcourt.

The House of Assembly Committee had summoned the management of the Italian oil giant, on the heels of a petition from the lawmaker representing Abua/Odual Constituency, the Deputy Speaker, Marshall Uwom, requesting the House to intervene in the matter. At the meeting, which had in attendance representatives of the community and Agip company, the spokesman of Emago/Kugbo community, accused the company of insensitivity to the plight of the people.

Baby, 2 brothers perish in building collapse in Lagos

A baby boy and two brothers identified as Slva Odiah, 24 and Sayo Odiah, 14 have perished in a building that collapsed at Orisha Street, Isheri Magodo, Imodium, Ojodu/Berger in Lagos this morning. The building collapsed while family members were still asleep. The mother of the two boys who died has been rushed to the Tabasco General Hospital while efforts is ongoing to rescue her other children that are trapped in the rubble. They are 11-year-old Clinton Odiah and eight-year-old Endurance Odiah.

SA Lawmakers Are Now Worried About What Could Happen To Shoprite, Stanbic Etc.


MTN Group released a press statement on Tuesday confirming that it had not agreed to pay any fine to the Nigerian Communications Commission and was still negotiating with the government. Whilst negotiations continue, the South African Parliament is worried about the implications of the alleged violation of trade relations with not just Nigeria but with other countries.

According to an article in Reuters, South Africa’s head of parliamentary telecoms portfolio, Mmamoloko Kubayi confirmed this worry by saying;

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have apprehended a notorious drug dealer operating in the state.

The NDLEA Commander in the state, Dr Ngozi Madubuike, on Tuesday in Jos said the culprit identified as Zuma was nabbed with 350.6 kilograms of psychotropic substances.

ISIS bomber is found still alive after blowing himself in HALF in botched suicide attack in Yemen


A grisly video has surfaced of the moment a failed ISIS suicide bomber is found torn in half but still alive after his explosives detonated too early.

Footage of the incident, posted online, showed him muttering a few words and moving his head - despite missing the lower half of his body.

Doctor Bathes Teenage Houseboy With Hot Water

    A 16-year-old boy, Nwanga Chidiebere, is battling to stay alive at Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki (FETHA), Ebonyi State. Chidiebere, a male servant, was allegedly attacked with hot water by a female doctor at FETHA, Jane-Glad Ugba.

    Chidiebere is hospitalised at the Plastic Surgery Department of the hospital following the attack. Recounting his ordeal to our correspondent on his hospital bed, Chidiebere explained that he had just returned from school on the fateful day and was about washing clothes when his boss asked him to go and boil yam which her children would eat.

11 killed as Boko Haram attacks Lake Chad

Eleven civilians were killed in a Boko Haram suicide bomb attack Sunday on a Chadian army post at Bougouma in the Lake Chad region, the government said.

“Two members of Boko Haram were neutralised and a third blew themselves up, killing 11 civilians,” a Chadian government statement said, referring to the Nigerian jihadist group.

Father Of Two, Tortured To Death At Sokoto Checkpoint By Policemen

    When Sadiya Shehu Shinkafi of Shinkafi, Zamfara State, sent her younger brother, Shehu Yahaya, to buy some chickens at the Teke market in the neighbouring Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, she never knew she would never see him alive again. His lifeless body was reportedly found in a nearby bush.

    The 25-year-old father of two children was allegedly tortured to death by some policemen at a checkpoint along the Isa-Sabon Birni road. Yahaya was said to have observed that President Buhari had ordered the stoppage of all checkpoints, a comment which was said to have angered the policemen who were purportedly collecting money from drivers.

Military: B’Haram Rocket-making Factory Photos Not Real

The Nigerian military has debunked pictures of the rocket-making factory being displayed by the Boko Haram terrorists as fake, saying the intention is to deceive members of the public on the insurgents’ potency.

Some photographs purported to be sites of the insurgents’ bomb-making factories in the North-east region allegedly released by Boko Haram were displayed on some online platforms last week.

However, a top military chief has dismissed the pictures as a propaganda strategy of “a desperate and defeated terrorist group”, saying that the unveiled photos of its rocket-making factory, was that of Bama in Borno State, which has long been destroyed by the military.
