Military helicopter on surveillance crashes in Adamawa state



A Nigerian military helicopter on surveillance mission has crashed in Damariea in Girei Local Government Area of the state. Residents of the area said the helicopter crashed close to the temporary camp of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, which is now being used as a camp for Internally Displaced people in the state. A military source told SaharaReporters that the crashed chopper was carrying military hardware and some military advisers to the frontline in Adamawa state when it crash-landed in Damare.
 
The source claimed there was no casualty recorded in the crash.

Since the beginning of the war against Islamist militants Boko Haram, several military planes and helicopters have crashed in the northeast including an airforce jet which was shot down by Boko Haram militants.

The sect later paraded a Nigerian Airforce pilot and beheaded him on tape after interrogation.
