JAMB make 7bn from 1.4m registrants

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination has garnered N7billion from 1.4million registrants who have purchased forms to write this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Daily Trust reports.

JAMB’s Public Relations Officer, Fabian Benjamin, had told journalists in Lagos on Wednesday that the examination body was impressed with the high number of candidates who had registered for the March 4 examination.

“I want to say that we are expecting no fewer than 1.4million candidates that will be attempting the examination in all computer based mode of examination…,” Benjamin said.

But Daily Trust gathered yesterday that JAMB has garnered not less than N7bn from registrants across the country as each of the 1.4m paid N5000 to accredited banks in order to register for the examination.

The N5000 covers writing materials and calculator, syllabus and brochure, according to information of JAMB’s website.
