We’ve located Chibok schoolgirls –CDS

The Chief of Defence Staff(CDS), Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh  has again reiterated that the Armed Forces will not apply force to rescue the Chibok schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram since April 14.

He said applying force to free the girls from their abductors would amount to their untimely death, noting that his men has located where the female students are being kept.

Badeh, who made this known while speaking with members of the Citizens Initiative for Security Awareness yesterday in Abuja, said: “If we go with force, what would happen? (they will kill them).
So, nobody should come and say the Nigerian military does not know what it is doing. We know what we are doing, we can’t go and kill our girls in the name of trying to get them back. So, we are working”.

Google Buys Word Lens App That Can Translate Words Inside Any Image

Quest Visual debuted an amazing smartphone app called Word Lens, back in 2010. It seemed almost fictitious, but the app was able to translate a number of different languages in real time using only the smartphone’s camera.

This was great for those who were traveling in a foreign country, and could simply hold the phone up to a sign letting the camera immediately translate it. At the moment, Word Lens is able to translate English, Portuguese, German, Italian, French, Russian, and Spanish.

With an app that has the potential to bring the world closer to becoming a global village, it’s easy to see why Google would want to own it. Google’s primary objective is to make all the world’s information searchable in any language, and while Google Translate generally does this quite well, its capabilities are limited to web pages. Super Eagles enters World cup record book

History beckons on the Super Eagles of Nigeria as they file out for the Brazil 2014 World Cup. Nigeria’s match with Bosnia Herzegovina on June 21 will not only be a platform to secure a round of 16 ticket, even ahead of the potentially difficult game with Argentina later in the competition, the game is a landmark duel in the FIFA World Cup history.

It will be the 800th game since the World Cup kicked off on July 13, 1930 in Montevideo, Uruguay when France beat Mexico 4-1.

It is a rare record as the Nigeria- Bosnia Herzegovina game will be the only milestone encounter of the Brazil 2014 fiesta. The next milestone match, which will be the 900th game of the FIFA World Cup, will take place at Russia 2018. That will only be if the current format of the World Cup is retained.

When Daily Sun got to the scene of the tragedy, soldiers on guard at the jetty’s gate did not allow people to get close, the fire still raged, but some ships were not affected.

The police command confirmed the incident, but could not give the casualty figure.

Chairman of Okrika Local Government, Tamuno Williams, confirmed the explosion to our correspondent during an inspection of the area where the incident occurred.

He said the explosion happened in the early hours of yesterday in a creek close to the jetty as a result of illegal siphoning of petrol from the NNPC pipeline.

Williams said the number of casualties could not be properly ascertained for now, due to the nature of the terrain where the incident happened and the level of security within and around the jetty.

Nigeria unemployed graduates to receive19k monthly allowance ?

That's what a committee at the on-going National Conference is suggesting...for all unemployed graduates in Nigeria to earn a monthly allowance equivalent to the allowance of members of the National Youth Service Corps, which is N19,800.

Punch reports that the conference’s Committee on Law, Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Reform made the recommendation but it can only fall through if it's accepted by the Federal Government.

A member of the committee said the recommendation was one of the ways the committee members felt that crime could be reduced in the country. He told Punch;

"The recommendation is our own way of finding solutions to the rising wave of crime in the country and to also force the government to do the needful for the increasing number of unemployed graduates in the country. We have done our part and it is left for the delegates to either reject or accept it at plenary.”

I have a feeling FG won't be interested in this. Who thinks it's a good idea?
