3 storey building collapses in Lagos


Five persons have been rescued alive while many others are still trapped in the rubble of a 3 storey building which collapsed mid morning today.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said the building which is located on Odunfa Street in the Lagos Island area of Lagos state collapsed mid morning with many occupants of the building still trapped.

The NEMA spokesman Ibrahim Farinloye told Daily Sun that rescue operations to get out the trapped occupants has been initiated and already 5 persons including a 15 years old boy and a elderly woman have been rescued alive.

Daily Sun learnt that the rescued persons have been rushed to  Sura Health Centre on the Island for treatment while rescue workers continue their  efforts to evacuate those that are still trapped in the rubble
